FilmLedger is a free film photography log and roll tracker for the web. It keeps an accurate record of the analog film stock you own, your cameras and lenses, which roll is loaded in which camera, and the settings behind every exposure — from the shop to the finished scan.

Every developed roll keeps the settings behind each frame. Pairing lab scans back to the frames they came from is still being built, and writing that data into the scan files themselves is planned rather than available.

Hearing about what ships
There is no sign-up box here, because we would rather not hold an address we have no account to attach it to. Once you have an account, choose whether to receive FilmLedger emails in your profile. It is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off again in the same place.

How do I keep track of which film is in my camera?
Add your cameras, then load a roll and record it against the camera you loaded it into. FilmLedger keeps that record beside the roll, so a second body or an extra 120 back never leaves you guessing.
Can I track my film stock and expiry dates?
Yes. Record the film in your fridge with its quantity, expiry date and what you paid.
How do I get an invite?
Invitations come directly from us, to friends for now. Public sign-up is planned.
Is FilmLedger free?
It is free to use today. What it might cost later is not a decision we have made, and we would rather say that than promise something we cannot keep.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Your film, your gear, and your frame log are tied to an account so they are there on whatever you sign in from. For now, accounts are by invitation only.
Does FilmLedger change my scan files?
No. Writing your exposure record into a scan’s own EXIF is planned, not available, and there is no control anywhere in the product that would do it.
Can it match my scans back to individual frames?
Not yet. Pairing a lab scan with the frame it came from is being built. Until it ships, FilmLedger keeps the record beside the roll rather than inside the file.
Is there a light meter?
There is one in the iOS app, which is still being built. The web app does not have one, and we are not going to say otherwise until it does.
Can I use it on my phone?
The web app runs in any modern browser, including a phone browser. Native iOS and macOS apps are in progress; there is nothing to download yet.
